A picture of The National Maritime Museum

Greenwich is rich in history and has many listed buildings, monuments and places of world-historical interest.

The National Maritime Museum is the largest maritime museum in the world; under its wing are the Queen’s House and the Royal Observatory, and the new Peter Harrison Planetarium, where you can take a 20 minute journey through time and space to explore the Universe!

The Queen's House - built by Inigo Jones - houses the museum’s fine art collection, with a continuous programme of displays and temporary exhibitions.

The Royal Observatory - commissioned by Charles II and built by Wren - through which runs the Prime Meridian, is a site steeped in the history of practical astronomy.

Other places of historical or architectural interest in Greenwich include The Old Royal Naval College, Vanbrugh Castle, St Alfege’s Church, Greenwich Foot Tunnel, The Ranger's House and The Trafalgar Tavern.
