If the idea of having to open your fridge and consider what to cook one more time makes you want to howl with frustration right now then you’ll be keen to take advantage of the fact that eating out is officially back on the menu.

Head to the Peninsula and you’ll find an impressive line-up of restaurants waiting to whip up everything from tapas to pizza for you; the fact that most have al fresco terraces is an added, fret-free bonus.

Tapas or pizza?

Head to Ardoa for irresistible tapas from the Basque region and craft beers with views over the river. You’ll be able to make believe that you’re in Spain, no quarantine required.

Or make your way to GK Pizza + Bar in Peninsula Square for, you get it, classic Italian pizzas alongside a perfectly curated winelist.

The Pilot

If you’ve spent the past few months craving a cold pint and a pub lunch then pay a visit to The Pilot. Not only does it serve delicious dishes from British classics to modern, seasonal fare, it also has wooden floors, leather sofas and Fuller ales on tap. The dream. Oh and don't forget the glorious beer garden too!

Get messy

If acceptable table manners are beyond your reach after months of eating at home then The Joint is the answer: their offering of sticky BBQ ribs, enormous burgers and brisket mean eating with your hands is positively, thankfully, encouraged. Practice your swing at the golf driving range while there.

BYO or grab 'n go

Don’t fancy sitting in? Grab your friends and a takeaway and picnic on the grass in Central Park or, if you’re really popular, seated by the river at the Studio Morison’s 27 metre long 'Seafood Disco' picnic bench.

You can do better than some sad sandwiches, too: EatFan is the go-to for nourishing Asian offerings like Chinese braised pork or miso aubergine. Just order online and collect in store. And Coffee Couch is the place to get a caffeine fix and a pastry-fuelled sugar high.

Getting home

Switch up your journey there and away, too, by jumping on an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers for a scenic trip along the river or into a cable car.
