Inspired by the Greenwich Peninsula Turning Tides Festival, musician and composer, Dan Deacon, brings a fusion of electrifying performance, guided meditation and conversation with special guest William Cashion of Baltimore band Future Islands.
An iconoclast, visionary, and purveyor of sheer joy, Baltimore-based electronic musician, Dan Deacon, will give an exclusive online performance for The Peninsulist Presents: Friday Sessions. Known for his high-energy live shows featuring unique crowd engagement, this performance will channel that intimacy by giving viewers a rare look at his home studio.
Dan will also be chatting with special guest William Cashion of frequent touring partners, Future Islands, about Baltimore’s vibrant music scene, as well as treating us to a guided meditation delivered with his own unique style and sensibility.
Dan’s fifth studio album, Mystic Familiar, was released on January 31, 2020 by Domino Recording Company and includes the lead single “Sat by a Tree”, the video for which stars comedian Aparna Nancherla.
Over the past decade, Dan has toured internationally with artists including Arcade Fire, Miley Cyrus, Future Islands, Lightning Bolt and The Flaming Lips. Dan has also premiered compositions at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as well as collaborated with artists and institutions including Kronos Quartet, Sō Percussion, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the LA Philharmonic and Justin Peck with the New York City Ballet.
His albums Spiderman of the Rings and Bromst were both named Best New Music by Pitchfork and his collaborative animated video for Adult Swim, “When I Was Done Dying”, has scored millions of views. Dan’s work as a composer includes scoring eight films—two of which, Rat Film and Time Trial, are available as soundtrack albums.
