Turning Tides Festival
Turning Tides, the free music festival, returns to Greenwich Peninsula for a weekend of eclectic live performances. Join us for one last Summer Sessions celebration, as Turning Tides brings together the creative community for the closing of the series (and sadly the summer) on The Tide.
HEADLINERS
Headliners include self-made artist Oscar Jerome and one of the UK’s foremost Black Jazz vocalists and songwriters, Zara McFarlane. Zara will take the headline spot on Saturday, with Oscar closing the weekend on Sunday with an effortless confluence of jazz-fusion, funk and hip-hop.
SATURDAY 11 SEPTEMBER
Kicking off the line-up on Saturday is Taloula, an indie singer and songwriter. She will be followed by Maliki, a young Jazz duo using hypnotic riff repetitions and Electric Jalaba, a sextet band taking Moroccan Gnawa music to a new dimension.
SUNDAY 12 SEPTEMBER
JACK FROST | Outdoor Pop-Up Show | 1:30PM
Begin your afternoon with Traceworks Dance who bring their live theatre magic to the Peninsula. Directed and performed by James Aiden Kay and Julian Lewis, the enchanting JACK DEFROST outdoor pop-up dance performance will explore seasonal change and new environments.
THE MUSIC GOES ON
Blending jazz, R&B, hip-hop and pop, GeeJay, a London based duo will kick off Sunday's Turning Tides Festival with a soulful performance. Multi-instrumentalist Holly Henderson will follow with an immersive and melodic set of original compositions that throw you both back in time and into the future, while Onipa, the celebrated Afrofuturist collective will pick up the beat and liberate festival-goers with an uplifting high energy performance.
The weekend promises to deliver on soulful summer sounds, and good times aplenty, hosted against an iconic riverside backdrop and Yinka Ilori’s vibrant festival quarter. There’ll be street food, a pop-up bar, and loads of spaces to explore.
