The tide at Greenwich Peninsula

Where to go when you need: A slice of normal life

In this strange old summer of endless cancellations and ever-changing rules, fun needs a bit of a rethink.

Unbridled excitement is a bit of a reach right now but normality suddenly seems very appealing: we’re all craving a day spent doing a bit of shopping and absorbing some culture followed by lunch or drinks in the sunshine.

Head to the Peninsula where you can do all of the above with some stellar views and masses of breathing space thrown in for good measure.

The Tide

Follow The Tide, the 1km long, which will eventually stetch to 5km, elevated timber walkway that runs from Peninsula Square down to and along the river.

The Tide is peppered with restaurants, pop-ups, meditation stations and sculptures by emerging and establshed artists.

Art Trail

Up your daily step count and get a much-need culture fix with a walk around the 3km long Art Trail that circles the Peninsula and is lined by sculptures and murals that will stop you in your tracks.

Icon at the O2

After limbering up along the 3km art trail, grab your face mask and head into the O2 to visit designer outlet hub, ICON.

You’ll be able to hunt down fashion and beauty bargains from the likes of Calvin Klein, Nike and Levi’s.

Whet your whistle

After all that, you're going to need to refresh.

Head to Rico Sabor for irresistible tapas and sangria with views over the river and you’ll be able to make believe that you’re in Spain. Or make your way to GK Pizza + Bar for, you get it, classic Italian pieces and a perfectly curated wine list.

Getting home

Switch up your journey there and away, too, by jumping on an Uber Boat by Thames Clippers for a scenic trip along the river or into a cable car.
