Investing in Community Fund
We're delighted to announce that the latest round of funding from Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund has been distributed to community organisations in the area. The programme represents a £1.9 million investment in supporting and strengthening this urban community over the next decade.
The priority themes for Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund are employment and training opportunities, life skills, civic engagement, health and wellbeing, the environment, community resilience and opportunities for vulnerable and disadvantaged. Projects that were inclusive and innovative were also favoured by the grants panel, which consisted of representatives from Knight Dragon, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Greater London Authority, L&Q and Greenwich Giving. Grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 were awarded for the one-year funding.
This year we dedicate one of our grants to Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund panelist Shehla Kadri (Community Development Lead) from L&Q Foundation who tragically passed away last year. Shehla was passionate about women’s rights and had dedicated her career to supporting those in need. We therefore we dedicate the Housing for Women funding in her name. She will be truly missed by her colleagues, friends and family.
Other winners include MumsAid who have received funding in both rounds of the fund so far, to support their perinatal mental health counselling services for 15 mothers as well as maternal mental health awareness-raising talks to the Greenwich Peninsula community, reaching a total of 50 beneficiaries:
“''MumsAid are delighted and proud to be chosen to be part of the Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund. We will provide counselling support, reducing isolation and strengthening families in the area. We look forward to ‘mothering the mothers’.''”
Platform Cricket will receive their first grant from the fund in 2025. This funding will go towards the development of an inclusive cricket engagement programme at a local school, aiming to engage 400 young people:
“''Greenwich is a very diverse area with a great deal of development. So, opportunities for physical activity are vital and we firmly believe cricket offers opportunities for socialisation and personal development, and a cross-cultural appeal, which are relatively unique. We are extremely grateful to the Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund for their support which is enabling access to the Platform Cricket programme and a route into the game for local youngsters.''”

We look forward to working with our community and public sector partners to improve social outcomes for those who live, work and study at Greenwich Peninsula.'' – Matt Hawkins, CEO, Knight Dragon.”
Greenwich Peninsula is due to see over 17,000 new homes, 12,000 new jobs and 48 acres of open public space emerging over the coming years. In that time, Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund will support the delivery of community projects that will have a positive social, economic, and environmental impact on the local community. Previous funding has been provided to Breadwinners, Ahoy Centre, The Conservation Volunteers and London Gypsies and Travellers.
The next round of applications for the Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund is now open, seeking further funding requests from community organisations within Greenwich Peninsula.
This third round of applications will close on 18th July 2025.
“"Developing a new place from scratch, at this scale, is a unique opportunity and one we do not take for granted. Our commitment to delivering a genuine and sustainable community at Greenwich Peninsula has seen us invest in many spaces, initiatives and projects over the last 10 years, and the launch of the Greenwich Peninsula Community Fund is an important milestone in the development of the place.” Richard Margree, CEO at Knight Dragon”
MumsAid addresses lack of mental health support for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. They provide evidence-based support that makes a difference not just to mothers but to the health emotional development of their babies, and the wellbeing of families and communities. MumsAid will provide weekly sessions of free, specialist counselling for perinatal women living in the Peninsula area. This will deliver up to 12 sessions of our evidence-based counselling to an estimated 15 mothers per annum. Counselling will be offered from an accessible community location that can be dedicated to Peninsula mothers, whilst arrangements are finalised if required. Having identified a real demand from mothers for social engagement to reduce isolation, MumsAid will run one of our very successful art groups for mothers and their babies, supporting an additional 10 mothers over the year.
Queercircle provides a home and platform for LGBTQ+ arts, health and social change. They have developed an ecology of community organisations, grassroots organisation and charities, artists, curators and thinkers who collaborate to reimagine the role cultural spaces play in society. The grant will increase QueerCircle’s ability to deliver a welcoming community space & access to LGBTQ+ arts and culture unmatched elsewhere, comprising (as a minimum) 3 artists’ commissions per year; a library/reading room; learning & digital programme engaging 12,000 people annually by 2026. This will also contribute to their strategic work with Greenwich Council and GLA to improve the night-time economy and late-night offer of the area.
The Conservation Volunteers at Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park brings people together to create, improve and care for green spaces and delivers multiple outcomes, not just for the environment but for people and communities too. The project will engage groups and individuals from the Peninsula in a range of “Rurbanite” themed urban gardening activities across the Peninsula, bringing in TCV’s London Biodiversity Action Teams (made up of a TCV staff member and volunteers) to assist with construction work and ground preparation. Going forward, this space would be nurtured by residents with the support of TCV. A celebration event at the end of the project, including an interactive walk taking in the different project areas and refreshments and discussion/feedback with a display of photos at the Ecology Park.
