Greenwich+Docklands International Festival returns this summer with another bold programme of free outdoor theatre, dance and performance across London, and with Greenwich Peninsula once again hosting a major moment in the festival.

For 2026, the Peninsula welcomes the UK premiere of Efectos Especiales by Argentinian artists Luciana Acuña and Alejo Moguillansky - an immersive large-scale production transforming Peninsula Square and Design District into a live cinematic set.

Action! A truck rumbles past with music blaring. A dancer sprints, leaps and stumbles through the streets as thunder rolls, wind lashes and snow suddenly falls around the audience. Blurring the lines between film, theatre and live performance, this “gloriously inventive” (The Theatre Times) experience transforms the everyday into something extraordinary.

Having already captivated audiences in Sydney, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, Efectos Especiales arrives at Greenwich Peninsula for one weekend only as part of GDIF 2026.

Greenwich Peninsula has proudly supported GDIF for many years, welcoming world-class outdoor performance to the riverside and bringing internationally acclaimed artists into the heart of the neighbourhood.

Free and unticketed, this is one of the standout cultural moments of the summer, set against the striking architecture, public spaces and riverside backdrop of Design District and Greenwich Peninsula.

In partnership with Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, The Royal Borough of Greenwich and Arts Council England.
