Paws On The Peninsula
The Isle of Dogs might be on the far side of the Thames, but Greenwich Peninsula is home to its fair share of canine residents, making a name for themselves on the waterfront and on Instagram. Here’s who you should look out for while out for walkies.
Harvey
This three-year-old yellow labrador has been a playful presence on the Peninsula ever since he was a puppy. “We’ve made a lot of doggy friends as well as doggy-owner friends,” says his owner, Lucia.
Elmo, Muffin & Milo
These beautiful crossbreeds have been in the neighbourhood for a whopping 15 years. “Elmo and Muffin are poodle-bichon mix and Milo is maltese-yorkie mix,” says owner Simon. “All have massive personalities and love nothing more than playing fetch in the park.”
Timmy & Gigi
Who says opposites don’t attract? Timmy is a cocker spaniel, and Gigi is a shihpoo, yet the two of them get along wonderfully, enjoying all that New London has to offer, alongside their owner, Jo. (behind the camera)
Papi
This Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz has come all the way from Spain (hence the exotic breed). Papi (left) was a rescue dog, and his owner, Jazz, says the Peninsula suits him well. “His top haunts are Craft, The Jetty and his favourite, the Pilot” What a foodie!
Obi the Pugawin
This pug takes his name from a well-known Star Wars character. However, his owner, Ermos, says this dog’s personality is a little more earth-bound. “He's a combination of lion, dolphin, labrador – a real menace. The Force is definitely strong with this one!”
Alfie
Here’s another recent arrival on the Peninsula. Alfie the dachshund has come all the way from Australia, with his owners, Sam and Josh. “He enjoys walks, hunting squirrels and sleeping on Mondays.” What a guy, and it looks like he’s made some friends already. Here he is hanging out with fellow Peninsulist, Rocco.
Rocco
You don’t have to be big to make a big impression on the Peninsula. Rocco the chihuahua weighs just 4lbs/1.9kg, yet he’s already great friends with fellow Peninsulists, Papi and Ruby. “He also loves ice cream and cuddles,” says owner, Lauren. Who doesn’t?
Sandy & Lola
Can you see the family resemblance? These two cocker spaniels are sisters from the same mister. And, like all good siblings, they share family interests. “We’ve perfected the art of chewing and enjoy an adventurous life on the Peninsula,” say owners, Janice and Richard.
